Position: General Assistant (part time)

Overview

We are recruiting a General Assistant to support with decanting and topping up. This post is for 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible hours are also available on a bank contract.

Responsibilities
  • Clean within a large production kitchen to a high standard.
  • Pack and deliver food orders for ward level.
  • Work in a chilled/frozen environment, picking and packing foodstuff to order, and delivering to ward level.
  • Push trolleys to and from ward level and undertake other manual handling activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous experience of cleaning to a high standard and pride in their work.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene principles.
  • Knowledge of health and safety within a kitchen environment and familiarity with good food hygiene practices.
  • A level of manual dexterity appropriate to the role.

About the Department

The Catering Department at University Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides food and beverages to patients at both St. Richard’s and Worthing sites. The department comprises front-of-house ward-based staff and back-of-house staff who produce, assemble and deliver food to ward level. The kitchen production team supplies ambient, chilled and cooked frozen meals to patients at Worthing and St. Richard’s Hospitals. The CPU hard’s is the main production kitchen where food is produced, stored and distributed.

You will be supported by chefs, general assistants, stores personnel and management to maintain high standards.
