Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic staff nurse to join our Children’s Nursing Team to cover maternity leave. This full-time fixed-term role is for one year. Applications are welcome from registered nurses with an interest in paediatrics or with previous paediatric experience.
About the WardHoward Ward is a 20-bed general Paediatric Ward. We care for babies, children and young people from birth to 18 years with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. The unit has an HDU area and a separate Children’s Assessment unit. You will develop essential skills in nursing sick children, including respiratory support, fluid and pain management, and stabilisation of the critically ill child.
Responsibilities- Assist in the assessment and delivery of care under the direction and supervision of the team leader.
- Provide patient and family-centred nursing care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency and elective settings within the division.
- Contribute to high standards of nursing care and utilise resources effectively.
- Current UK NMC registration (or relevant international qualification with approval for visa sponsorship where applicable).
- Interest in paediatrics or paediatric experience.
- Eligibility for UKVI Skilled Worker route visa sponsorship (subject to meeting skill, salary thresholds and role-specific criteria).
The service is committed to high standards of care for children and young people up to 18 years, within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, including outpatient, emergency and elective care. You will be part of a strong multidisciplinary team and receive ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.

If you currently work for another NHS Trust or UHSussex and are applying as a secondment, you must obtain agreement from your current Trust/Manager before applying. Secondments require formal approval; if approval cannot be obtained, consider applying as a fixed-term position.
