Visitor Assistant

Join our growing Visitor Team at Chichester Cathedral, creating memorable experiences and sharing our story with visitors from around the world.

Chichester Cathedral is a living church at the heart of Sussex, welcoming over 250,000 visitors each year and offering a vibrant programme of worship, music, events and exhibitions.

You’ll join a small, supportive team at the heart of a busy and inspiring place. Every day brings something new, and your work will help more people connect with what we do.

Every day, you’ll help create memorable moments for visitors from all over the world, whether they’re discovering the Cathedral’s rich heritage, attending a service, or enjoying concerts, exhibitions and special events.

You'll be responsible for greeting visitors, encouraging charitable donations and helping ensure the Cathedral remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place to be. Your work will help sustain the Cathedral’s mission - both practically and financially

• Deliver a high-quality welcome to everyone who comes through our doors
• Proactively encourage visitor donations, meeting agreed targets
• Ensure the Cathedral looks its best by maintaining presentation standards across the floor
• Assist with ticketing, merchandise sales, and front-of-house operations for Cathedral events

You’re a people-person who takes pride in creating a welcoming experience for everyone. You’ll have:

• Confidence in engaging with a wide range of visitors, ensuring high standards of visitor service are delivered
• Experience in a public facing role, ideally within a heritage, cultural, religious, or visitor attraction setting
• An interest in arts, culture, or heritage
• Confidence working collaboratively with different teams and contributors
• Part-time: 17.5 hours per week
• Fixed term: 24 months
• Salary:£11,466 per annum. Chichester Cathedral is committed to paying the Real Living Wage
• Worth noting: This role will require regular weekend working, periodic evening working and a flexible
  approach to working hours at busy times.
