English Teacher - Chichester
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Long-term until December 2025 (potential to become permanent)
Pay: £160 - £240 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm | Full-time
Location: Chichester

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Chichester to recruit a dedicated and passionate English Teacher. This role begins in September 2025 on a long-term basis until December, with strong potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, joining a collaborative and supportive department. Applications are welcomed from Early Career Teachers (ECTs), experienced educators, and those with relevant teaching experience, even if unqualified.

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to a variety of learning styles and abilities

  • Foster a love of reading, writing, and language among students

  • Mark and assess student work in line with departmental and national guidelines

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and enrichment initiatives within the English department

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic progress

  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including school events and extracurricular activities

  • Mixed 11-16 secondary school located in Chichester with a positive and inclusive culture

  • Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, with a strong emphasis on student wellbeing and academic success

  • Committed to staff development and professional growth

  • Easily accessible by public transport and car from surrounding areas

  • Led by a forward-thinking and supportive Senior Leadership Team

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject (essential)

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised qualification (preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at KS3 and KS4

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching English

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
