Job Summary

The job provides operations support, acting as an informal resource related to the operations of the indoor and outdoor athletic and recreational facilities. Responsible for employees who conduct risk management, event management, security, scheduling, membership services, and equipment and vehicle maintenance related to these facilities.

Responsibilities
  • This is a part‑time, non‑benefit eligible position; hours cannot exceed 1,000 in 1 year.
  • The job provides operations support, acting as an informal resource related to the operations of the indoor and outdoor athletic and recreational facilities.
  • Responsible for employees who conduct risk management, event management, security, scheduling, membership services, and equipment and vehicle maintenance related to these facilities.
  • Weekday evening/weekend oversight of the controlled access of athletic/recreational facilities (indoor/outdoor): responsible for the weekday evening/weekend facilities security, oversight and risk management of the athletic/recreational facilities.
  • Supervision and evaluation of front desk employees, fitness center supervisors, lifeguards, etc.
  • Enforce facilities policies and procedures.
  • Weekday evening/weekend oversight of membership services: responsible for the sale of membership passes, locker rentals, towel service, merchandise sales, etc.
  • Weekday evening/weekend event management duties as assigned: follow guidelines and procedures that have been established for overseeing an event.
  • Includes oversight of Athletic Aides at assigned events.
  • Public relations.
  • Supports the implementation of employee policies and procedures as well as ensuring adherence to union guidelines.
  • Handles peripheral responsibilities for event management, security and controlled access, scheduling, membership services, marketing, facilities services, and oversight of equipment maintenance.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Education

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four‑year degree).

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Certifications
  • CPR/AED certifications.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Review of emergency protocols.
  • Fire Safety Test.
Technical Knowledge And Skills
  • Ability to keep records, assemble and organize data, and prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
Preferred Competencies
  • Must be able to read and write; must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be capable of communicating effectively with supervisor, students, staff, faculty and the public.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit or walk for 8 hours or more.
