IT Software Engineer

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer 5. The work will be done onsite or hybrid depending on the customer’s preference (Peoria or Chicago, IL), with a hybrid schedule initially (2 days onsite per week) and transitioning to full-time onsite in the coming months. This is a 12-month long-term position with potential for extension. Compensation is up to $100/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Cullerton Group is seeking a senior-level IT Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, integration, and support of complex enterprise software systems. This role supports mobile, web, cloud, server, and backend computing platforms and will contribute to both new application development and enhancement of existing systems. The engineer will work within an Agile environment, lead technical initiatives, and mentor team members while delivering scalable, secure software solutions.

• Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy high-complexity software applications
• Lead and support Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team
• Develop and maintain cloud-based applications using AWS services
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures
• Support CI/CD pipelines, system integrations, and production issue resolution
• Perform integrated testing and support customer acceptance testing
• Assist with documentation, training, and usability efforts

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of experience

• Strong technical leadership experience
• Extensive experience designing and developing software applications in Java
• Hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, Lambda, Fargate, S3, IAM, Cloud Formation)

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture

• Experience with batch or streaming systems (SQS, SNS, Kinesis)
