Java and Spring (all the flavors - Boot, Security, Data, Cloud)

AWS architecture - we mean real architecture decisions, not just "deploy to EC2"

Angular on the frontend

Modern tooling—we embrace Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Warp, Wind Surf; whatever makes you faster.

You use AI coding assistants, and you re eager to learn how to use them more effectively

You understand AWS at an architectural level—design patterns, trade-offs, and when NOT to use certain services. You use the CDK, for example.

You can context-switch between deep coding sessions and explaining "why the API is slow" to someone who doesn t know what an API is

You're allergic to corporate waste and love shipping actual working software

Two-week sprint planning ceremonies

Layers of approval for a three-line code change

"That s not in the roadmap" as a conversation ender

Engineers who ve never talked to a customer

Direct impact - your code helps people recover from addiction and mental health challenges

Autonomy - we trust you to solve problems, not follow tickets

Modern tools - whatever makes you productive (Claude Code, Cursor, Zed, Warp - whatever)

Customer context - you ll actually understand why you re building what you re building

$125K+ depending on experience

Education and certification bonuses

Remote-friendly (US-based);
Chicago area a plus but not required

Full-time W-2 only (no contractors, no C2C, no staffing agencies)

Comfortable with customer interaction 4-6 hours/week (if this terrifies you, this isn t your role)

7+ years of real engineering experience (we re not training juniors)
