About the Role:

Halo is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer in our Chicago office to help design, architect, and engineer our Fin Tech Platform. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with other developers in the design, development, and maintenance of our financial software applications
• Responsible for architecting, developing, testing, and maintaining complex Python-based financial applications, Open Source RDBMS and No
  
  SQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design solutions that meet those needs, helping align the team’s efforts with Halo’s overall goals and objectives
• Ensure the performance, scalability, and security of our applications
• Seek out opportunities for continuous improvement of development processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/mid level developers
• Partner with tech and product peers to navigate and drive successful delivery of work
• Implement and follow best practices for software development, testing, and deployment; conduct code reviews
• Write and maintain documentation, and ensure that product quality and performance SLAs are consistently met

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical experience
• 5 or more years experience architecting, developing, and supporting mission critical end user facing SaaS applications with experience across the stack including authentication, restful API design, data pipelining, and health monitoring
• 5 or more years experience using Python, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Additional experience with cloud computing (preferably AWS), Azure, or GCP, as well as database technologies such as Postgre
  
  SQL, Redis
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization using Docker and/or Kubernetes, as well as Gitlab and Git Ops based CI/CD preferred
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing, version control, and continuous integration and deployment. and working in Agile practices
• Willingness and ability to take ownership and provide direction on projects that involve various functions and levels of professionals
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
