Location: Chicago, IL (540 W. Madison Office)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week (subject to change; candidates must be fully comfortable with this flexibility)
Contract Length: 12 Months (with optional extensions)
Compensation: $93–$100/hr
Start Date: January 2025
Seeking a Java Lead Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise‑scale backend services and APIs in a cloud environment. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands‑on coding, and collaboration with geographically dispersed teams in a Scrum setting.
Top Skills & RequirementsEducation:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years experience
- OR Master’s degree with 8+ years experience
Skills:
- Java 17+, strong backend development (70% backend)
- Spring Boot RESTful APIs
- AWS services: API Gateway, Lambda, S3, Cloud Formation, SNS, SQS
- CI/CD tools:
Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins - Relational & No
SQL databases - Architecture experience (preferred)
- AI experience is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration
- Ability to work under pressure
- Minimum 3 years leading geographically dispersed teams
- Team‑oriented, mentoring experience
- Design and develop backend services and APIs
- Deploy and maintain applications in AWS
- Implement CI/CD pipelines
- Lead and mentor developers
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Ensure high standards of software quality and Agile practices
