The Chicago Workers’ Collaborative (CWC) seeks a motivated and highly organized Domestic Violence Counselor for our Hope Family Services Program.
Organization General DescriptionFor over 20 years, CWC has organized, educated and supported low-wage workers, building their leadership to advocate for improvements in policies and working conditions. Longtime partner, HOPE Family Services, recently merged with CWC, bringing 30 years of experience in offering a variety of services designed to address and prevent domestic violence within the Latine community.
General ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating counseling services for adult survivors of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Counselor must manage an assigned caseload and meet documentation, reporting, and service delivery benchmarks.
Specific Responsibilities- Participate in trainings to stay updated on changes in immigration law and procedures and public benefits, new requirements, and updates
- Conduct the assessment of incoming adult survivors of domestic violence.
- Conduct crisis intervention, safety planning, and make appropriate referrals.
- Develop service plans in conjunction with clients.
- Provide ongoing individual counseling and case management services to adult survivors of domestic violence.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of clients’ progress.
- Plan and facilitate two weekly domestic violence support groups, both on and off-site.
- Facilitate workshops and community outreach activities to raise awareness about domestic violence, promote healthy relationships, and promote the program’s services.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in client files, including documented client interactions, assessments, service plans, progress notes, etc.
- Ensure confidentiality in all client interactions and follow program’s policies for maintaining secure and confidential client records.
- Input services data on the various program databases: paper files, Info Net, and other internal and external databases.
- Provide data for quarterly reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers to enhance the working environment of the program and respond appropriately to clients.
- Demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for the position and excellent client service skills.
- Attend supervisory meetings, staff meetings and case discussion meetings.
- Complete the Illinois DCFS Mandated Reporter training on an annual basis.
- Participate in other required training and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in other required training and professional development activities.
- Number of clients who develop a service plan (target is 100%).
- Percentage of clients who successfully accomplish at least one goal of their service plan (target is 80%).
- Results of file reviews once per quarter: client records are 99% complete.
- Complete, accurate, and timely reporting both internally and externally (Info Net).
- 40-Hours Domestic Violence Training certificate from an ICDVP-approved training site.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in counseling or a related field or (2) years of experience in the social services field.
- Experience working with adult survivors of domestic violence.
- Experience working with crisis intervention.
- Bilingual Proficiency (English and Spanish).
This is a full-time grant-funded position with an annual salary range of between $42,000 to $46,000.
