Job Title: Youth Engagement Services/Independent Living Caseworker (YES/IL)
Department: Center for Youth Development

Position Summary

Provide supervision, support, case management, counseling, and training necessary to help youth with a goal of independent living become self supporting citizens of their community

Gateway Longview’s Community Based Services programs supports children and youth ages 13-21 years struggling with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.

Compensation

Bachelors Degree $19.50 - $21.59

Masters Degree $21.30 - $23.38

Primary Responsibilities
  • Engage youth in face to face contact as dictated by program and county requirements and expectations.
  • Complete assessments and required paperwork according to program policy.
  • Teach, model and evaluate effective techniques and interventions with youth focused on academic, vocational services and life skills including but not limited to safe and affordable housing services, services to enhance self-sufficiency, and methods to sustain meaningful employment
  • Utilize a Solution-Focused Trauma-Informed Care Approach to collaborate with youth, and their supports.
  • Establish a comprehensive service plan to support the youth’s goals.
  • Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely completion and filing of all case-specific documentation. Prepare and document all contacts in the youth’s chart within 48 hours.
  • Assure confidentiality of each client's case through only necessary discussion at an appropriate time and place.
  • Proactively ensure safety and wellbeing of clients and their progress toward individual goal attainment through provision of regular case management services, which includes frequent contacts with clients.

  • Ability to work independently and be an enthusiastic team player
  • Must have a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
  • Available to flex work shifts as needed for client related matters
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services related field with 2 years experience
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and adequate auto insurance
