Intake Specialist

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) empowers families to learn, earn, heal, thrive. We’re looking for a full‑time Intake Specialist to join our HQ Intake Floater team.

Salary: The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $44,000 to $50,000 annually.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide client‑centered, welcoming, responsive, and helpful intake and referral services to individuals and families that result in being connected to appropriate services and/or resources.
  • zx/gather and process pertinent information to provide referrals for services and resources the person may be eligible for and work with community resources to expand external referrals.
  • Effectively triage and de‑escalate persons in crisis who are seeking services and/or resources.
  • Work with diverse staff and service populations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good computer skills and willingness to learn a variety of applications; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask within a fast‑paced environment and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated courtesy, patience, and good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma with at least 3 years of human service experience (direct service, case management, advocacy, needs assessment, crisis intervention, etc.).
    • Ability to complete required 40‑hour domestic violence training.
    • An associate’s degree in a relevant field and 1+ years of human service experience, or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).
    Additional Requirements
    • Successfully pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
    Travel / Transportation Requirements
    • Driving not required. Travel to different sites required.
    Physical Demands
    • Job requires sitting and standing for sustained periods, frequent talking, hearing, handling objects or controls, occasional standing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds.
