Job Type: Volunteer / Part-time (1 hour/week)
About the ProgramWomxn in Design (WID) Chicago is looking for experienced design professionals to serve as Mentors for our 2026 Mentorship Program
. Following the success of our sister chapter in San Francisco, this 10-week program is designed to foster one-on-one relationships, bridge the gap between design disciplines, and strengthen the Chicago design community.
As a Mentor, you will be paired with an emerging designer, student, or career-transitioner. Your role is to provide guidance, share industry insights, and help your mentee navigate their professional journey.
Key Responsibilities- Commit to one hour per week for the duration of the 10-week program (March – May 2026).
- Provide support in areas such as portfolio reviews, job search strategies, and skill development
. - Foster a respectful, confidential, and encouraging environment.
- Attend the program kickoff (Early March) and the final celebration (May).
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in any design discipline (UX/UI, Graphic, Industrial, Interior, Fashion, etc.).
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to coach others.
- Location: Based in the Greater Chicago area (In-person meetings are encouraged, though virtual is an option).
- Commitment: Ability to show up consistently for your mentee throughout the spring.
- Leadership Development: Sharpen your coaching and management skills.
- Give Back: Make a tangible impact on the career of a fellow designer.
- Community: Connect with other mentors and expand your network within WID Chicago.
