Job SummaryProvides comprehensive case management services for victims of human trafficking. Activities include establishing a trusting relationship, assisting victims to construct a safe, realistic, and culturally‑sensitive plan to leave trafficking, and sustaining life after exit. Carries out functions to achieve expected outcomes as identified in the STOP‑IT Program Plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Case Management Activities
- Provide case‑management services as directed by program policies, focused on assisting victims in leaving human trafficking. May conduct majority of direct service or outreach off‑site including home visits, schools, or community agencies.
- Conduct threat assessments of victim’s immediate danger with close supervision.
- Apply Motivational Interviewing to evaluate readiness, design interventions, and plan escape strategies.
- Consult with supervisor on outreach case stages.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies to move victims through stages; review progress with supervisor.
- Identify community resources and build linkages with providers and law enforcement.
- Maintain frequent contacts with local resources, public and private agencies, and law enforcement; refer clients as needed.
- Obtain Release of Information before making referrals.
- Process requests for financial assistance under agency policy.
- Contact Illinois Department of Children and Family Services or Elder Abuse Hotline as mandated when abuse is suspected.
- Inform supervisor of subpoenas; attend court when appropriate.
- Report clients in crisis and any urgent situations; record contacts in progress notes.
- Maintain the STOP‑IT hotline as assigned and shared with outreach workers.
- Complete case and statistical recordings, other required reports, and record‑keeping.
- Engage in bi‑weekly professional supervision.
- Maintain awareness of liability and legal issues affecting the agency and clients.
- Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers code of ethics and WHO guidelines.
- Intra‑Agency Responsibilities
- Study agency policies, procedures, and programs; contribute ideas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Salvation Army units to achieve goals and outcomes.
- Understand and align with the Mission of The Salvation Army and HOPE STRONG values.
- Perform special administrative assignments as delegated.
- Attend agency training and meetings; present case‑related information.
- Assist with record‑keeping, handling phone calls, and office duties.
- Coordinate services with Corps Community Centers, Disaster Services, and other programs.
- Participate in bi‑weekly supervisory conferences and peer supervision.
- Community Relations
- Attend schools, meetings, or court hearings with supervisor approval.
- Network with community groups dealing with social issues.
- Provide training to law enforcement, medical providers, social services, and other groups.
- Participate in community planning and activities related to relevant problems.
- Continuing Education
- Participate in professional seminars, conferences, and workshops.
- Stay updated on developments in social work; consult supervisor on relevance.
- Participate in quarterly booster training sessions.
- Other Duties
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- This position reports to the STOP‑IT Program Manager or an experienced social work supervisor.
