Full‑Time/Planning & Community DevelopmentThe City of East Peoria is accepting resumes for a full‑time Maintenance HVAC Technician I in the Facility Maintenance Department. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of HVAC systems and related mechanical, electrical, and building equipment across City facilities.
Responsibilities- Maintaining HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance
- Documenting work performed, materials used, and identified deficiencies
- Interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Responding to equipment issues, performing inspections, and assisting with remodeling projects
- Working at heights up to 40 feet using ladders or lifts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least five (5) years of related experience
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification
- HVAC certification through an apprenticeship or technical training program
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and residence within twenty-five (25) miles of the City’s corporate limits
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, experience with complex commercial building systems, and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance
- Strong organizational, record‑keeping, and communication skills
- Safe operation of hand and power tools, ability to work in varying environments, and availability for after‑hours emergencies
- Availability for holidays, weekends, and emergency callouts
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre‑employment physical examination, including a functional capacity/lift assessment, a pre‑employment background check, and a pre‑employment drug screening in accordance with City policy.
CompensationPay range is $33.00–$37.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience (DOQE). This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position offering a comprehensive benefits package.
