Electronic Technician Journeyman

Purpose Of The Job

The Electrician is responsible for modifying, repairing, and overhauling all types of electrical and electronic equipment and controls across the facility. Maintain, modify, and install PLC programs and troubleshoot electronic/electronic problems on the plant floor.

• Install, modify, rebuild, repair or overhaul all types of electronic/electrical equipment and controls with an emphasis on plant operations.
• Remove and/or install electronic/electrical equipment and parts.
• Analyze and correct electrical/electronic problems.
• Use electrical/electronic tools, gauges, calibration and testing equipment, computers, hand and power tools, pipe threader, etc.
• Familiarity with motors, transformers, conduits, bus ducts, fittings, wires, cable, transistors and other electrical/electronic gauges, meters and control devices.
• Modify, maintain, and install PLC programs; identify, troubleshoot, and document PLC issues.
• Receive and interpret wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions for scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.
• Plan and perform work based on electrical and electronic theory, wiring specifications, codes, material properties, and device operation principles.
• Sketch parts and layouts; design and construct adaptations or conversions of component parts, including development phases.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections, report findings, and take appropriate action.
• Write and execute maintenance work orders as required.
• Make mechanical and electrical repairs in servicing electronic equipment, including assembling, modifying, repairing, and replacing individual parts within components, circuit modules, and PCBs.
• Maintain performance inventory and maintenance records for electrical and electronic equipment.
• Advise operators, mechanics, and other maintenance personnel on standard operating procedures and requirements for equipment and controls.
• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective actions taken.
• Operate equipment and assist production as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Journeyman electrician designation with at least three years of industrial experience.
• Experience with installation, troubleshooting, repair, and adjustment of industrial, electrical, and electronic equipment.
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley and/or Modicon PLCs;
  Controllogix 5000 is a plus.

• Working knowledge of 3‑phase power circuits and ability to read electrical prints.
• Ability to pass the Mechanical Comprehension test at 50% or higher.
• Strong working knowledge of safety principles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

We are a 24/7 continuous operation running 4 days on, 4 days off with 12‑hour days in a union environment. Employees must be flexible to work days and nights as well as holidays. Rate of pay is $44.61
/hr, with Time and One Half for all hours worked past 8 hours each day and a 5% Night premium for all night shift positions.
