Overview
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II role at Fleet Services by Cox Automotive. The position supports on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, with service centers nationwide and 24/7 in-house support.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling systems, starers/alternators, engine electronics, diesel systems, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment systems and components.
- Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
- Independently manage parts inventory and operate the company-issued service truck; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Communicate with clients and management to assess needs, obtain approvals, and discuss findings.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule; obtain parts from vendors as needed.
- Document work and upload RO information, parts used, and findings using iOS devices and TRAIT application; complete DOT forms timely.
- Maintain safety, health, and environmental compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT) in all work performed.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; or 5 years of related field experience.
- Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; DOT medical card may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical if valid for more than four months.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.

- ASE T7 (HVAC)
- ASE 608/609 certification
- Ability to understand implications of new information for problem solving and decision making.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of moderately heavy labor.
- Strong communication skills for effective two-way information exchange.
- Ability to determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
- Ability to judge distances and use logic to evaluate alternative solutions.
