Crane Service Technician II
Location:
North Chicago, IL
Compensation: $30–$37 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Crane Service Technician II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing quality installations, inspections, maintenance, and repairs of hoist and crane equipment. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, professionalism, and strong customer service skills to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency in every project.
Key Responsibilities- Service, install, and maintain overhead crane systems and hoists.
- Perform OSHA-compliant inspections, complete warranty work, and troubleshoot breakdowns.
- Respond to emergency service calls and perform preventive maintenance.
- Conduct electrical and/or mechanical repairs and adjustments, with or without engineered drawings.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by identifying issues, offering solutions, and recommending improvements.
- Document all service and installation activities, including forms, reports, and inspection checklists.
- Adhere to professional standards of timeliness, appearance, and organization.
- Maintain company equipment, including vehicles, tools, and service materials.
- Stay up to date on Federal, State, and local safety codes related to cranes and hoists.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting cranes and hoist equipment (required).
- Strong working knowledge of 3-phase motors, VFDs, contractors, and circuits.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and scissor lifts (required).
- Associate’s degree in Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and manage customer-facing interactions with professionalism.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including standing, walking, working at heights, exposure to temperature extremes, and lifting 50–100 lbs.
- Ability to perform inspections per OSHA standards.
- Must supply own hand tools and meter.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
