Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Watch Commander, duties of this position include maintaining a safe environment for the University community by way of patrol (foot and vehicular) of buildings, grounds, parking lots, off‑campus facilities and city streets within our jurisdiction.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

High school diploma or GED, successful completion of 400+ hours of police academy training from a State of IL certified program and one year of related experience. Licenses:
State of Illinois certified firearms training; a current FOID card and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications
  • Requires prior police experience in a recognized armed police department.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must pass an extensive background investigation, drug screening, and psychological test.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of 400+ hours of police academy training from a State of IL certified program and State Full‑Time Police Certification
  • One year of related experience.
  • State of Illinois certified firearms training
  • A current FOID card and a valid driver’s license.
Computer Skills
