Roosevelt University seeks a Full‑time Campus Safety Officer for the Chicago Campus.
The Campus Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of all students, employees, and visitors at the university.
This role is located at the Chicago campus; the schedule is an 8‑hour shift with two consecutive days off.
This is a 1st shift position from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Additionally, this is a union position and will require union membership; health and wellness benefits are provided by the union.
Salary: $19 per hour.

Skills and Abilities
Required
- High School diploma or GED required
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable judgment, discretion and professionalism in managing sensitive situations and/or irate individuals.
- Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- A positive and professional demeanor is a must
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Education:
High School/GED
- Earned Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- Previous experience preparing incident reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience in Higher Education.
Equipment Operated:
Desktop computer, office printer and phone. Security camera video monitoring and recording system, card access system, visitor management system.
Working Conditions:
Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.
