The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Job Summary

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol and monitor assigned areas, including all campus buildings, perimeter, fields, and parking lots, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
  • Protect and assist administration, staff, faculty, students, and visitors. Ensures only authorized individuals with proper credentials are allowed on the campus.
  • Adhere to and enforce the rules as stated in the Saint Ignatius handbook.
  • Report all incidents on incident forms prior to the completion of shift and notify the supervisor of any disturbances or irregular activity.
  • Enforce parking regulations and guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Chicago Police Department.
  • Respond and assist in any sick or injured emergencies in coordination with the Dean’s Office.
  • Secure access to the building and offices.
  • Maintain proper maintenance and handling of security radios and equipment.
Qualifications

To perform this role effectively, an individual must be able to successfully carry out each essential duty, with or without reasonable accommodation. The following qualifications represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and/or equivalent training and/or experience. Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of all relevant state statutes and local ordinances.
  • Ability to articulate in a clear and distinct manner during emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to make accurate decisions based on observations and perceptions.
  • Must be able to work well with administration, staff, and students.
  • Must be self-directed and able to prioritize assignments.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and software used on campus.
  • Working knowledge of report writing.
  • Ability to learn site specific rules, regulations, and codes.
Additional Information

This position is a part-time position. Hours vary depending on events, etc.
