Pay Range$2 increase to base pay

SummaryUnder the general supervision of a Security Supervisor, the Lead Security Officer will perform the duties of a Security Officer and assume a leadership role on the shift as described below, including being a positive role model/mentor/training officer for security officers. The Lead Security Officer will exemplify the Rush missions, visions and values and act in accordance with RUMC policies and procedures.
RequiredJob Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED and at least one year of service as a security officer at Rush required.
- Valid Driver’s (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin) license required.
- Must have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to RUMC based upon the results of a Motor Vehicle Report check conducted by Human Resources.
- Must possess and be responsible for maintaining current Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
- Must possess and maintain a Firearm Control Card (FCC) at the time of application (including revolver).
- Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois Firearm’s Owner’s Identification (FOID) Permit.
- Must possess and maintain an International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (“IAHSS”) basic certification.
- Must be able to qualify for and successfully demonstrate the use and maintenance of firearms and departmental equipment.
- Pass RUMC specific knowledge test.
- Ability to handle confidential matters. Ability to exercise independent judgment; excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not entire tour of duty and be able to withstand weather extremes for external assignments.
- Physically able to perform required responsibilities.
- Must be able to wear body armor.

Responsibilities- Provide fixed, walking and vehicular patrols of all RUMC building and ground.
- Perform Security Services Dispatch duties prioritizing needs, monitoring and responding to security system indications, viewing and providing monitoring of security video system, monitoring the police and emergency communications systems, monitoring breaks and schedules, documenting security officer activities, monitoring assignments and addressing incoming calls with varying degrees of complexity and needs.
- Conduct basic interviews and investigations.
- Observe and document security and safety hazards.
- Prepare incident reports, memorandums and other written documentation.
- Assist local police agencies during investigations or emergencies.
- Monitor and assist with access control and visitor management.
- Control and enforce vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns in the Medical Center as assigned.
- Provide escort services as assigned.
- Participate in property control procedures (accepts, records, stores, returns, or releases to authorized persons).
- Respond to emergency situations (i.e. Code Red, Blue, Code triage, Code Orange, etc.).
- Assist Supervisor on the shift as the daily lead officer.
- Act as the trainer providing initial RUMC specific training as well as ongoing training of Security Officers, and provide on-the-job training to new officers and make recommendations to supervisor regarding officer progress in order to aid in verification of competency.
- Represent the Security Services department as assigned by the Supervisor or until relieved by a Supervisor or above.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
