Security Guard
As a Security Team Member, you will play a vital role in ensuring guest and property safety by patrolling, monitoring, enforcing rules (such as no outside food and ride restrictions), managing crowds, responding to medical and emergency incidents (including lost children and fires), controlling access through bag checks and entry/exit monitoring, and handling rule-breakers using de-escalation techniques. This role requires alertness, strong communication skills, and often First Aid/CPR knowledge.
You will proactively prevent issues and respond to emergencies, supporting a fun and secure atmosphere for all visitors.
- Provide courteous visitor assistance and explain/promote Waterpark rules and regulations.
- Inspect bags and coolers; advise patrons of items not permitted in the facility.
- Issue verbal warnings where appropriate.
- Assist Management and Supervisory staff in removing patrons through non-physical means.
- Remain vigilant for signs of criminal and/or suspicious behavior and initiate appropriate reporting and follow-up.
- Assist Aquatic Center Management and Supervisory staff as required.
- Administer First Aid and assist in emergencies, including crowd control and maintenance support.
- Support Aquatic Center Management as needed.

- Social perceptiveness to be aware of others’ reactions and understand their causes.
- Basic computer literacy to operate security systems and write incident reports.
- Time management and supervisory skills to manage one’s own time and assist in overseeing others.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and embody the CELTS Spirit.
- Post-secondary education in a Law or Security program, or previous experience in a similar or related field.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to organize work, plan activities, and set priorities effectively.
- A friendly and pleasant personality demonstrating maturity and sound judgment.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Ability to speak a second language.
- Security experience in an amusement park or waterpark setting.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather, including heat and humidity.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and sometimes in isolation.
- Creativity, flexibility, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
