OverviewSalary Range: $16.00 - $21.33 Hourly
DescriptionAt Inter‑Con we take pride in providing customized security solutions for our clients. As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will patrol rail stations and rail systems throughout various Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) rail stations, trains, platforms, right of way and pedestrian ways as determined by CTA Security Department. This role requires foot patrols, use of hand‑cuffs, cell phone, two‑way radio, and flashlight, and ensuring safety and security for public and CTA patrons.

Security guard duties include, but are not limited to, foot patrols, completion of a twenty‑hour Basic Unarmed Security Guard Training Course, possession of a current Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC), and training in interpersonal relationship skills related to interacting with the public and CTA personnel. Uniformed guards are assigned in teams of two, report to duty on time, and are certified to use hand‑cuffs, cell phone, radio, and flashlight.
Guards must stay alert for suspicious persons or vehicles, assist in inspections, provide directions to CTA customers, and guard against unauthorized access, criminal acts, and property damage. Guards report incidents to CTA Communication/Power Control Center or CTA Control Center or 911 as needed.
- Current guard card license (PERC)
- Pass a 5-panel drug test prior to placement
- Pass a psychological and physical examination
- Pass a criminal history check
- Employment verification check back to age 18
- Must be 21 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent; possession of a college degree is highly desirable. Speak, read, and write English. All assigned personnel should be of high integrity and possess exemplary security skills and judgment.
