Mobile Advisor

Job Corps is the largest nationwide no-cost residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 50 years. With a mission to “attract eligible young people, teach them the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further their education,” the program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, train them for meaningful careers, and assist them with obtaining employment.

Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

The Mobile Advisor reports to the Safety, Security & Transportation Manager and is responsible for enforcing all laws, rules, and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department. The role models, mentors, and monitors excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of workplace relations and ethics, supporting the welfare and professional development of youth in the program.

• Demonstrate and abide by Aleut Core Values and operating principles.
• Enforce all authorized laws, rules, and regulations.
• Perform alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disaster, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
• Provide vehicle transportation support function under the direction of a supervisor in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.
• Aid and assist visitors, students, and staff.
• Perform building security and safety checks.
• Receive complaints and make appropriate preliminary investigations.
• Maintain harmonious relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
• Investigate vehicular accidents at the center.
• Issue visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
• Prepare written accident reports and maintain a security log.
• Attend required in-service training sessions.
• Participate in the disciplinary process as established at the center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
• Assist in reception functions and maintain the staff/student/visitor control area.
• Act as switchboard operator as required.
• Adhere to Aleut's Quality Assurance Plan.
• Communicate and consistently model appropriate CSS and employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
• Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property, and adhere to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Cultivate and maintain a climate in the center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, providing a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 6 months of related experience; preference for 1 year in a security department, law enforcement agency, or experience with security duties.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
• Prefer experience in law enforcement.
• Prefer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Prefer training with an organized security department.

• Prefer knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques and law enforcement procedures.
• Must maintain CPR/FA Certification.
• Ability to obtain a bus driver’s license.
• Ability to effectively relate to the trainee population.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to operate office equipment and drive an automobile.
• Ability to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.

This position involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasionally it involves bending, stooping, carrying, running, driving, and requires flexibility. Applicants must be able to see, hear, and speak.
