Overview

The Carrier Sales Representative II develops and owns strategic relationships with a portfolio of carriers that support AIT’s network of external and internal customers. The role focuses on procuring capacity, building deep relationships, and optimizing carriers’ needs within AIT’s freight mix while ensuring performance, communication, and integrity at the highest standards.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain long‑term strategic relationships with a defined portfolio of carriers
  • Prospect qualified carriers by conducting daily sourcing calls to secure consistent truck capacity that meets AIT compliance guidelines
  • Collaborate with Account Executives and Account Managers to source opportunities to strategically match available carrier equipment to AIT customer needs
  • Negotiate rates with transportation providers at or below current market rates
  • Partner with carrier decision makers to align strategies that benefit both organizations
  • Develop, implement, and manage dedicated capacity solutions for AIT truckload customers
  • Lead monthly business reviews with top carriers and regularly monitor carrier performance to address deficiencies urgently with corrective action plans
  • Ensure all shipments are tracked daily
  • Drive automation across the carrier portfolio (GPS, ELD, EDI)
  • Communicate accessorial charges to the Account Management team in a timely manner to ensure approval and maximize revenue per load as needed
  • Suggest improvements in procedures that increase efficiency, develop profit, and better serve our customers
  • Communicate with internal teammates on the status of their loads as needed
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced Carrier Sales Reps
  • The wage range for this position is $21.00–$29.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent – Required
  • Associate’s Degree – Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • 3–5 years logistics experience – Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Medium proficiency
  • General truckload, OTR and intermodal terms/info – Low proficiency
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) – Low proficiency
