The Business Development Representative - SMB builds their own portfolio of small to medium sized customers across North America, soliciting any region and/or vertical. Current customers are in food & beverage, consumer packaged goods, construction, and retail. The Representative prospects customers, actively sells MoLo's truckload services, and develops relationships with accounts. This position is the main point of contact for customer interactions and works cross‑functionally with modal operations and carrier sales.

Your contribution may include:

  • Research new leads using customer databases and CRM software
  • Prospect small to medium sized customers through cold calling and email communication
  • Uncover customer needs while successfully selling MoLo's truckload services
  • Act as a consultant to build and maintain customer relationships
  • Maximize operational efficiencies for customer shipments using transportation management software
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve problems to uphold service commitment
  • Collaborate cross functionally with carrier sales, yield management, and modal operations
  • Assist and oversee revenue collection process as needed
  • Effectively support teammates’ accounts when necessary
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

As a Business Development Representative - SMB, you will be part of the Arc Best Sales team at the MoLo Solutions headquarters in the Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional irregular hours.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Experience:

    Previous customer sales, operations, or service experience (preferred)
  • Ability to multi‑task with high attention to detail
  • Ability to negotiate and reach outcomes that gain support and acceptance of stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and meet performance metrics
  • Confident decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
  • Entrepreneurial, sales‑minded, coachable with strong work ethic
  • Excellent time management to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong listening and communication skills, written and verbal, to connect with customers

Location: In‑office for training then hybrid with 3 days a week required in the Chicago office (167 Green Street, Fulton Market District).
