Airgas is hiring for an Account Executive to manage the sales process and drive profitable new sales growth within an assigned sales territory covering multiple districts. The role requires high-level customer relationship development, utilization of Airgas resources, and partnership with internal teams to secure new business.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute sales plans using Airgas’s directives to establish new accounts.
- Drive new business sales with a high‑level value‑added sales approach, collaborating with Airgas Specialists, ALTEC Engineering, and Advanced Fabrication teams.
- Target new business across multiple districts, working closely with District Managers to qualify prospects and secure opportunities.
- Allocate approximately 90% of capacity to the new business process (identify, qualify, negotiate) and 10% to coaching local sales teams.
- Transition day‑to‑day service to newly signed accounts while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Link customer business priorities to the Airgas value proposition and prepare sales proposals, including quoting, credit terms, and delivery estimates.
- Stay current with industry insights, Airgas product mixes, competition, and market trends.
- Partner with internal resources, maintaining clear communication regarding customer successes and opportunities.
- Submit required sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) to the Area Vice President.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business or related field (or up to 4 years of related experience).
- Minimum 3 years of outside B2B sales, sales management, or sales specialist experience.
- Proven success with solution‑selling concepts and managing customers throughout a defined sales territory.
- Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and prioritization.
- Consultative sales experience delivering multiple layers of value to customers.
- Industry, macro‑ and micro‑economic trend awareness.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and adaptability to order‑entry and handheld scanning systems.
- Self‑starter, self‑motivated, urgency, able to work independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical and planning skills.
- Problem‑solving ability in dynamic situations.
