EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions or concerns quickly and courteously, assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs, inform guests of special promotions, recommend additional items as appropriate, and apply all selling behaviors during every transaction.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS computer system, making correct changes, providing receipts, and ensuring exceptional guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly and courteously, and when appropriate, elevate customer issues to the Store Manager in a timely manner.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits such as the new title reservations program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations, training store associates, and observing associate performance to ensure alignment with company policies.
- Provide timely feedback and recognition to all store associates and record performance in the Workday HR system.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed for all associates before shift starts.
- Schedule associates, manage staffing levels, and approve payroll and time‑off entries.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and merchandising of all store areas, including restrooms and equipment.
- Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Implement inventory control and loss prevention practices, including visual inspections and safety protocols.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink goals while completing required administrative tasks.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain accurate product organization on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals in the POS system and conduct bank deposits as required.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and manage defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately.
- Maintain associate and guest safety, report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records and ensuring handbook materials are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders during the Store Manager’s absence.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
