Job SummaryTake your culinary skills to new heights with the American Airlines Admirals Club lounge team (ORD airport based). We seek a talented, dedicated, guest-focused Sous Chef to join our team. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, develop daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment, and may supervise hourly associates. You will work with the Executive Chef/Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering.
This is an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary opportunity.
- Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account.
- Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus.
- Produce and execute catering events.
- Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team.
- A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate with required experience.
- Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, dependent on formal degree or training.
- Catering experience is a plus.
- High-volume, complex food service operations experience is highly desirable.
- Institutional and batch cooking experience is helpful.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook, E-mail, and the Internet.
- Willingness to participate in patient satisfaction programs/activities.
- Serv Safe certification is highly desirable.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish).
