Position: Research Technologist 1

Department: MED-Urology

Salary/Grade: NEX/9

Target hiring range for this position will be between $18.00-$20.00 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary

Conduct all following assays under a close supervision: cell culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, cell cytoxicity assay, and any related assays as research requires. Help with general laboratory duties, such as autoclave supplies as needed.

Please note:

appointment is upon 1-year renewal term; 90-day probation period at initial hire.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques.
  • Help with general laboratory maintenance, shcu as autoclave reagents, supply inventory.

Using an entry level of skill, completes the following activities.

Molecular Biology
  • Protein isolation and Western blotting
  • PCR, RT-PCR
  • Recombinant virus production and purification
Cellular Biology
  • Cell culture, cell isolation
  • Functional studies
  • Transfection
Histology
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Microscopy
Immunology
  • ELISA
  • Cell cytotoxicity assay
Animal
  • Animal handing
  • Tumor measurements
  • Records test results and may maintain databases.
  • Completes standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data entry, word processing, etc.
  • Maintains inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.Sc or equivalent and some basic science courses is required.
Minimum

  • Cell culture, being able to read scientific literature and protocol with understanding the science behind. Knowledge of western blotting and immunohostichemistry, cell cytotoxicity assay

  • B.Sc with some laboratory experience in research seeting
