Salary

The budgeted salary range for the position is $40,000 to $50,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

About The Department Of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics provides comprehensive family-centered health care to all children, multi-level professional education to students, physicians, and allied health care workers in all aspects of pediatrics, and a voice of advocacy for children of the state of Illinois. We are also actively engaged in the community to improve the health status of children through preventative and educational efforts, and to lead with basic and clinical research into childhood diseases to move the field of pediatrics forward.

Position - Research Associate I (GIS Technician)

The Children's Environmental Health Initiative (CEHI) at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking to fill a Research Associate I (GIS Technician) position. The CEHI is a research, education, and outreach program committed to fostering environments where all people can prosper. This position contributes to research by assisting with the collection, entry, and curation of spatial data and descriptive results. It provides support to a series of spatially-based research projects and a geospatial training program, and helps maintain the various databases and requirements related to CEHI's research productivity.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Technical support for GIS related research projects
  • Data processing (e.g., geocoding)
  • Dataset management
  • Participate in other duties and related projects as assigned
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of one year related research experience (including part-time research assistantship experience).
  • Entry level knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience batch geocoding large datasets.
  • Ability to write technical documents and research reports.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment; meet deadlines in a fast-paced multitasking environment.
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
