Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $56,000 to $62,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

DescriptionWe are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in a dynamic research environment funded by multi-year grants from National Institutes of Health (NIH) The postdoctoral fellow will employ multidisciplinary approaches by combining stem cell biology and genetic approaches with transgenic model systems and single cells analysis, to understand fundamental mechanisms of tissue regeneration and to develop advanced therapeutics for tissue injury.
The main target organs include the bone marrow microenvironment, the lung and the thymus.
The key research areas include Notch signaling in hematopoietic niche cellular microenvironments (e.g. pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.) and endothelial bone marrow niche regeneration (e.g. haematologica.org/article/view/9119) as well as bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cell fate decisions (insight.jci.org/articles/view/157015/pdf, pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov//). The Principal Investigator (PI) will help the fellow develop his/her career by providing a collaborative and inclusive research environment. The PI will encourage the preparation of research papers, application of fellowships, and presentation at national/international meetings.
Department
The laboratory is primarily housed in the Department of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine at the College of Medicine ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). The Department has a dynamic group of junior and senior faculty, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students. The department's strengths are in the broad areas of cell signaling, cardiovascular and lung biology, stem cells and regenerative medicine, and therapeutic drug development. The Department has been highly ranked nationally in research funding and training in the field of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences.
- Demonstrated expertise with a publication record in at least three of the following areas:
- Cell biology techniques with required experience in: cell culture, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy.
- Molecular biology and engineering: e.g. plasmid cloning, CRISPR.
- Animal studies with rodents: e.g. transplantation, survival surgery, in vivo imaging.
- Minimum of two first-author primary research articles in international journals.
- Strong writing skills and oral communication.
- Inherent motivation to pursue high quality research.
- Evidence of collaboration and mentoring of others.
