The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, always “in search of excellence”, is working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China. • Applicants should possess (i) a PhD degree and possess a solid academic background in one of the following three fields: computational biology/translational chemistry/molecular biology;
• (ii) preferably at least two years of postdoctoral research experience;
• (iii) a competitive publication record in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and demonstrated research achievements;
• (iv) strong ability to take responsibility for research projects, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative in problem-solving, with clear potential for rapidly developing into an independent Principal Investigator. Proven research experience with relevant experience in successful funding application are advantageous.

• The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) conducting, coordinating and supervising independent and/or collaborative research projects on drug discovery and modification/drug delivery system development/disease mechanisms;
• (b) actively pursuing external research grants;
• (c) supervising research students and staff;
• (d) administrative tasks related to research;
• (e) performing other departmental tasks as assigned.

Appointment(s) will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewal subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
