** About the Department
** The Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS) provides the infrastructure to advance in-terdisciplinary research and training in health and social sciences at the University of Chicago. Housed under the Dean of the Biological Sciences Division's office, the Center attracts participation from across the University, including the Biological Sciences Division and Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM), Social Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Division, Booth School of Business, Harris School of Public Policy, Law School, Crown School of Social Work, Policy and Practice, Na-tional Opinion Research Center (NORC), and Argonne National Labs.

The Center supports and promotes innovation and collaboration as well as excellence in research, scholarship and training. With 140 faculty associates from virtually all schools and divisions of the university, CHeSS serves as an incubator of ideas and supporter of research in health and the social sciences, sponsors sem-inars and workshops on campus, invites nationally-known scholars and policymakers to speak on a variety of topics, supports the writing and submission of grant applications and fundraising pro-posals, coordinates new research initiatives and projects, manages several training programs and provides expert research methods consultation during formative and operational phases of investiga-tions.
** Job Summary
** The Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS) seeks an entry-level Research Analyst to join our innovative Methods Core team. The CHeSS Methods Core provides expert statistical consulting services to investigators across the University, supporting impactful research in healthcare delivery and policy. The Research Analyst will utilize statistical programming skills in Stata, R, and SAS to perform advanced data management, analysis, and manipulation of large, complex datasets.

Working under the guidance and supervision of senior staff members and faculty, the analyst will contribute to research related to healthcare economics, health services, and healthcare delivery sci-ence. The Research Analyst will work with large, complex data sources, specifically the Merative Mar-ketScan Research Databases, which are a key component of the CHeSS Methods Core’s data holdings. Projects will involve collaboration with multiple leaders and investigators throughout all stages of project development, from study design and implementation to results reporting and manuscript preparation.

The Research Analyst will also play an active role in supporting CHeSS’s educational mission by participating in training activities, preparing lectures and workshop materials, and serving as a teaching assistant as needed. Additionally, the Research Analyst will provide partial effort to support some of CHeSS’s administrative tasks, especially during the first year, while they build their analytical portfolio. These administrative tasks include processing financial transactions for the Center, managing facilities and office space and serving as high level liaison for Center related IT activities, among other responsibilities.
** Responsibilities
* ** Conduct in-depth quantitative analyses for both internally and externally funded health services research projects, including observational studies and randomized controlled trials.
* Work with diverse data sources, such as claims data (including the Merative Market Scan Research Databases), surveys, administrative records, and electronic health records (EHRs), to evaluate health outcomes and identify opportunities for cost reduction among various patient populations.
* Prepare statistical analyses and summary measures, and generate detailed reports and presentations tailored to working teams, funders, and broader audiences.
* Develop impactful data visualizations to communicate key findings and insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
