SummaryEnsures all grooming guests receive a groom that is of professional quality that meets or exceeds the client’s requests without ever compromising the physical and emotional health of the pet.
Responsibilities and Duties Grooming & Bathing- Provide an overall positive experience for the pets as they are being groomed or bathed, including compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort.
- Provide personalized grooming and spa services for dogs checked in for lodging or as drop-offs.
- Review grooming schedule daily, ensuring a manageable workload. Promptly address any issues with the Front Desk Manager or front desk staff.
- Use reference materials as needed to assist with grooming. Never return a dog to the client if it is not finished to the best of your ability.
- Provide fresh, clean water to all grooming dogs.
- Offer potty breaks to grooming dogs as needed.
- Report all pet health concerns to the Grooming Manager, Pet Care Manager, or Location Manager as soon as possible.
- Meet and greet all grooming clients whenever possible to discuss grooming instructions after assessing the dog’s coat and condition.
- Ensure client satisfaction by resolving any customer service issues with your capabilities. Involve the Grooming Manager, Location Manager, or any other manager on staff if you are not able to help the customer to their satisfaction.
- Return all phone calls and emails in a timely manner as needed.
- Clean and maintain the grooming room, including floors, walls, tubs, grooming tables, mats, and windows at the direction of Grooming Manager and with approved chemicals and cleaning implements.
- Assist with cleaning of other areas in the grooming salon as needed.
- Provide proper grooming equipment and maintain and sharpen the equipment as necessary.
- Inform Front Desk Manager or Location Manager of product inventory needs.
- Attend monthly Grooming Department meetings and All Staff meetings.
- Follow all company procedures.
- Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and accurately.
- Assist with other facility maintenance tasks and repairs as requested.

- Professional Grooming School or College Degree preferred.
- Two to four years professional grooming experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of individual breed standards and breed cuts
- Proper scissoring techniques required.
- Willingness to attend dog shows, trade shows, and conferences to increase grooming knowledge.
- Complete Paragon training
- Basic Microsoft Online computer skills
- Professional Grooming Certifications preferred but not required.
- Majority of time is spent standing, walking and bending. Must be able to physically manage and safely handle large dogs.
- Lift 50-75 lbs
- Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a task or project.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow the direction of supervisors and managers; demonstrates respect for authority.
- Ability to use common sense and safe judgment when performing duties.
- Willingness to ask for help when needed, especially in understanding a duty of task.
