Clinical Research Nurse
Job Description
Join our dynamic cardio clinical trials group as a Clinical Research Nurse, where you will provide exceptional clinical care within the framework of clinical research studies. Collaborate with a research team to support subject recruitment, eligibility assessments, informed consent processes, and protocol adherence. You will be responsible for monitoring research participants for changes in health status, assessing clinical responses, and ensuring high-quality protocol conduct.
Educate clinical staff and physicians on study protocols and administer study medications as needed.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care to patients participating in clinical research studies, including standard care procedures and research-specific tasks.
* Administer study medications and assess adherence.
* Document adverse events and conduct assessments, including blood draws and EKG administration.
* Implement nursing care plans in connection with study protocols.
* Communicate research-related information to patients, families, and medical staff.
* Educate physicians and clinical staff about study protocols and care plans.
* Monitor and report participant health status changes to the Principal Investigator and clinical care staff.
* Perform subject assessments and provide nursing support for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
* Schedule visits and ensure study-related orders are completed.
* Enter study-related data into databases and handle biohazardous specimens.
* Maintain current knowledge of disease-specific conditions and clinical research trends.
* Participate in study-specific training and conferences.
* Ensure adherence to documentation standards and assess subject eligibility for research protocols.
* Communicate protocol and safety updates to the study team.
* Prepare for and participate in monitoring visits and audits.
* Implement data quality assurance and safety monitoring processes.
* Maintain regular communication with the Principal Investigator and other contacts.
* Ensure protocol adherence and assist the research team in performing activities within established protocols.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
* Current IL RN license
* Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Professionals
* Two years of clinical nursing practice experience
* Two years of clinical research experience
* Introductory knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and Good Documentation Practices
* Understanding of human subjects protections and regulations related to clinical research
* Ability to communicate complex clinical and regulatory concepts in layperson language

* Ability to work successfully both independently and in team settings
Work Environment
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility is required to accommodate study enrollment needs. You will be working in a collaborative research environment focused on curing disease and promoting health equity.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
