Overview
We are a full psychiatric practice offering a wide range of innovative services. We offer IV Ketamine for treatment resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse disorders. Additionally, we offer Spravato and TMS (transcranial magnet stimulation). The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing the upmost care for the patients through direct care, assessment, support as well as maintaining the supplies and controlled substances within the clinic.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Creating a supportive environment for our patients, displaying compassion and kindness
- Establishing intravenous line
- Administering ketamine
- Administering intramuscular injections
- Assisting patient in administering Spravato
- Carrying out medical orders authorized by the providers
- Administering adjunct medication for adverse reactions
- Obtaining necessary laboratory specimens
- Collecting pharmacogenetic test
- Conducting care within a medical emergency
- Obtaining urine drug screens
- Providing emotional support when needed during infusions
- Taking vital signs and performing comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, mental, and psychosocial needs
Nurses are responsible for overseeing and maintaining the wellbeing of a patient through monitoring and documenting vital signs.
- Monitoring and documenting scales and changes in mood or symptoms related to patients’ diagnosis (e.g., PHQ-9 & GAD-7), through patient visits or mood monitoring program (Outcome MD)
- Seeking unforeseen side effects and treating
- Determining suitable action for patient’s medical and non-medical needs
- Working and communicating with all members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver appropriate care for the patient
Nurses also keep an open line of communication by: possessing credible knowledge of utilizing an electronic health record (EHR) to document, receive/assign tasks, and schedule patients for appointments.
- Answering and making phone calls related to patient operations
- Answering emails related to patient operations
- Attending monthly treatment team and nursing team meetings and reporting on:
- The status of patients under both ketamine and esketamine treatments
- Emphasis on patients who received and finished their initial six treatments of ketamine infusions
- Logistics information of ketamine treatments, including number of treatments and number of new patients
- Raising any care related concerns or specific patients needing additional attention and/or observation
- Being a resource for all patients on how to optimize ketamine treatments
- Providing education and instruction on ketamine, its side effects, expectations, and recommendations
Nurses also manage essential supplies for care, including:
- Managing, ordering, organizing, securing and logging all controlled substances; keeping track of supply and demand of necessary items
- Technological proficiency with electronic health records and navigation of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of patient care
- Professional conduct at all times
- Critical thinking skills
- Driver’s license required
- Experience in behavioral health a plus with knowledge of psychiatric medications
- Active RN license required
