Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $91,769.60 to $
* annually. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.

Position Summary

The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) is accountable for the day‑to‑day operations of a 20‑bed unit combining 14 ICU beds and 6 step‑down beds. The unit specializes in abdominal transplant and SICU patients, with occasional MICU overflow. The Nurse Manager participates in evaluative research, teaching, prioritizing patient needs, and leading resource utilization. This role serves as a key resource for physicians, nursing, and support services, and identifies strategies to monitor and improve resource management, processes, and quality initiatives.

The Nurse Manager fosters effective relationships within the department and across units, and ensures compliance with mandatory education, record maintenance, and updates to policies, procedures, and staff competencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Synthesize theoretical knowledge, evidence‑based practice, research, regulatory standards, and clinical expertise to provide safe, coordinated, quality patient care to diverse populations at risk for clinical deterioration in collaboration with an interprofessional team.
  • Create and maintain a supportive and healthy work environment, fostering psychological safety, open communication, collaboration, and accountability; serve as a professional leadership role model.
  • Identify recurring patient safety concerns and participate in/lead problem solving, continuous quality improvement, and resolution; inform nursing service administration regarding needs of nursing units and specific concerns or trends.
  • Plan for and participate in formal and informal educational experiences to interprofessional members of the healthcare team to promote early recognition and management of patient deterioration.
  • Actively participate in organizational communication processes through timely review and response to electronic and written messages.
  • Demonstrate competence and ownership in all departmental IS applications.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days when required.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
