Physician Assistant, Urology

* Attends faculty clinics and independently evaluates patients.
* Participates in management decisions.
* Coordinates follow-up care, including imaging/testing, consultations, or surgery.
* Interprets internal/external test results.
* Notifies patients of test results and management plans.
* Opportunity to participate in in-office and same day surgery procedures including prostate biopsies, ablations and cystoscopies.
* Provides clinical trial-related care, questionnaires, and management.
* Works with the nurse to address patient inquiries via email, EPIC, or phone.
* Obtains medical histories and performs physical assessments.
* Establishes independent clinic 2-3 days per week.
* Designs and participates in patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
* Participates in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
* Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with health care colleagues.
* Demonstrates effective use of verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills using strategies that promote problem resolution.
* Keeps knowledge base current by reading professional literature and attending educational conferences.
* Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
* Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
* Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care.
* Performs other related work as needed.
* Current physician assistant license/registration in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
* Certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) by start date.
* Provide direct patient care in a professional and respectful manner.
* Provide direct patient care independently under the direction of the supervising physician.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Perform detailed work.
* Perform multiple concurrent tasks with occasional interruptions.
* Exercise discretion and confidentiality while handling sensitive situations.
* Train or lead others.
