Salary:
The previously determined rate for this position is $58.00. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.

Responsibilities
  • Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse I functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Assures safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
  • Demonstrates in-depth clinical knowledge, skills, and expertise.
  • Performs interventions as prescribed by the provider by verifying and implementing orders from physician and/or advance practice nurse.
  • Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family.
  • Facilitates therapeutic, informational, or task-oriented groups specific to the discipline of a nurse.
  • Adheres to UI Health’s Code of Conduct.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • All other RN duties
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN Graduate
  • 1 - 2 years of inpatient Med/Psych experience
  • Psychiatric Nurse certification a plus
