Overview

The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate nurse to support our growing cardio-oncology patient population. This role requires strong collaboration with oncology providers and other medical departments to ensure seamless coordination of care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable screening referrals to appropriate subspecialty cardio-oncology providers and implementing nursing interventions tailored to complex cardio-oncology needs. Familiarity or a strong desire to learn the intricacies of oncology treatments—including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, biologic therapies, stem cell transplant, and emerging clinical trial drugs—is preferred.

Experience managing heart failure patients or those on guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) is preferred. This position also involves initiating and organizing patient education and resources specific to cardiology and cardio-oncology, as well as participating in continuous learning through institutional programs and Chicago Citywide Cardio-Oncology Rounds.

Typical schedule:

Monday through Friday; 8 hours per day; 2 days per week remote post orientation as clinic operations allows.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Report deficiencies to supervisor immediately. Assist in rectifying deficiencies as requested. Assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment.
  • Provide pre-attending care for patients. For each patient, perform a comprehensive assessment of the chief complaint and patient needs utilizing the nursing process. Based on findings, seek solutions and offer opinions to physicians and other health care providers. Document all nursing assessments in the patient’s medical record. Ensure that all documentation is clear, complete and legible. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

    Understand and uphold the protocols and procedures for release of patient/medical information.
  • Perform routine nursing duties and demonstrate clinical competency.
