• Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Guide patient/family teaching and oversee activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Maintain direct responsibility and accountability for the care of patients in the Emergency Department.
• Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment responses.
• Apply knowledge of EMTALA regulations and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire.
• EDAP Certified Facilities:
  Completion of Emergency Pediatric Course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non-OB Facilities: NRP certificate within 90 days of hire.
• Trauma Designated Facilities:
  Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire;
  Non-trauma facilities TNCC preferred.
