Summary / Objective

In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Guests we serve, the Nurse Supervisor R.N. plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and nursing services to all Guests on the assigned unit as well as in the facility as a whole. The Nurse Supervisor assists the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing (D.O.N) in the planning, development and overall operation of the assigned unit, which ensures Guests receive quality care 24 hours a day.

Functions

Assists the D.O.N and A.D.O.N. with planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.

Ensures the Nursing Department is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Develop, implement and update department policy and procedures when necessary or as directed.

Assists with staffing to ensure Guest needs and regulatory requirements are met at all times.

Participates in Federal, State and Local agency annual surveys.

Reviews any deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections and assists with the implementation of changes needed to correct any deficiencies found.

Provides guidance and education to staff in regards to their performance.

Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.

Responsible for training and educating staff members on the assigned unit.

Responsible to ensure adequate staffing on the assigned unit at all times including but not limited to filling in as a floor Nurse and coordinating floor Nurse and C.N.A. breaks.

Assures that established infection control and prevention practices and standard precautions are maintained at all times.

Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.

Facilitate Nurse to Nurse admission and discharge reports to/from hospitals and other institutions.

Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to the appropriate persons.

Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.

Ensure each Guest receives person centered care.

Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.

Assist with new admissions, re‑admissions and assist with the transfer of Guests to different rooms within the assigned unit.
