Nursing Supervisor- Ambulatory

Position Purpose

Provides operational oversight of the nursing team, ensuring safe and efficient care in PACU, Pre‑Op/ASU, PAT & GI. Coordinates with the OR Clinical Coordinator and Anesthesia to maximize patient throughput. Maintains physician relationships and monitors performance of nurses, technicians and support staff. Ensures unit compliance with regulatory requirements, conducts staff training, performs patient rounds and service recovery as needed.

• Works as a Permanent Charge Nurse implementing the plan of care within RN curriculum, prioritizing safety and documenting interventions.
• Evaluates patient responses to care, documents and communicates evaluation data to the healthcare team and modifies the nursing plan as necessary.
• Coordinates orientation of new staff to ensure clinical competence and assists with float and agency personnel orientation.
• Assists in holding staff accountable for hospital, nursing and unit policies, procedures, competencies and process improvement initiatives.
• Assists in education and preparation of nursing staff for accreditation visits (IDPH & TJC).
• Coordinates unit‑based staffing assignments shift‑by‑shift to achieve high‑quality, cost‑effective care.
• Responsible for (2) administrative/education days and (2) patient care days per week; must be assigned to patient care days weekly.

• Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience in perianesthesia, procedural nursing or critical care nursing.
• Excellent communication skills, negotiation skills; must be persistent and persuasive.
• Must establish rapport and effective working relationships with physicians and staff.
• Must prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage a large workload within tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and self‑motivation.
• Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate and make decisions relating to assigned tasks.
• Very strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, highly self‑motivated, directed and change‑oriented.

• Nursing care – proven proficiency in caring for perianesthesia patients receiving anesthesia or sedation.
