Licensed Vocational Nurse; Lvn​/Lpt

The program includes inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

• Assist the Charge/Staff Nurse to organize and deliver patient care and supervise staff.
• Collect and promptly report patient data, including pain assessment using the pain scale and documentation.
• Follow safety procedures and determine the appropriate observation level (e.g., Q15 minute checks, 1:1 monitoring, specific precautions).
• Orient and direct new staff in a welcoming manner, demonstrating thorough knowledge of hospital policy and procedures.
• Act self‑directed, recognize tasks, and take appropriate action.
• Use good judgment, requiring minimal supervision, but confer with Charge/Staff Nurse or House Supervisor when necessary.
• Provide nursing care within scope of practice to meet each patient’s unique needs.
• Assist in delivering care in an acute psychiatric setting for patients with a wide range of psychiatric and medical conditions.
• Practice the “5 Rights” of medication administration and ensure medication consents are signed before administering psychotropic medications.
• Initiate infection control interventions and update treatment plans when medications are ordered to treat medical issues.

Education: Graduate from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program.

Credentials: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

Experience: Clinical experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. 1–3 years’ experience with military and behavioral health populations, preferably in an inpatient setting.
