OverviewThe Clinical Nursing Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions, works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel.
Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice.
Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.
- Support administrative responsibility for the department service functions.
- Collaborate with the unit Director and/or Manager; assume administrative scope if necessary.
- Develop and implement departmental plans, performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations.
- Prepare, conduct and/or oversee orientation and training of personnel.
- Communicate with staff, physicians, and administration in writing and verbally.
- Be responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift.
- Assist the Department Director in daily operations of the unit.
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate personnel, ensuring proper use of time, equipment and staff.
- Ensure efficient functions of the department.
- Perform direct patient care, only as needed, within scope of practice.
- Continuously assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
- Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
- Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $36.75 to $55.70 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, taking into account factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
