Base pay range$40.30/hr - $60.45/hr
Major Responsibilities- Coordinate and implement strategies to ensure quality, efficacy, and cost‑effectiveness for oncology patients in multiple settings.
- Assess patient needs and orient them to hospital, outpatient settings, and the organization.
- Deliver cancer care across the continuum, from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and end‑of‑life care.
- Use the nursing process to provide patients and families with education and resources, facilitating informed decision‑making and timely access to high‑quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.
- Critically think and clinically assess patients to provide support and education, managing the complexity of the cancer diagnosis.
- Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
- Review distress screening and provide referrals.
- Respond to new patient referrals and collaborate with treating physicians.
- Reinforce education regarding diagnosis and connect patients to appropriate resources.
- Develop and report outcome metrics to drive program development; assess and implement activities supporting Children’s Oncology Group (COG) standards.
- Review and strategize activities supporting community‑needs assessment of site‑specific results.
- Advocate on behalf of the patient, empower self‑advocacy, and provide emotional support.
- Maintain knowledge, skills, and competencies; role model organizational behaviors of excellence.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Education and ExperienceBSN required. Typically requires 5+ years of clinical specialty (Oncology).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required- Global perspective of changing health care environment
- Ability to prioritize work
- Basic computer skills
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Current Illinois RN license
- CPR certification
- OCN Certification or Nurse Navigator Certification obtained within 2 years of hire.
- Flexible hours according to customer needs
- Commitment to patient‑focused care
- Prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with time constraints and in difficult situations
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and life‑threatening diseases
- Perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs may be required); may lift up to 35 lbs unaided; use patient‑handling equipment for >35 lbs.
- Travel to visit physicians and practices within the region
- Recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated
