PAWS Chicago is looking for an energetic, organized, detail-oriented team-player who has a passion for animals and promoting the No Kill movement. This intern supports logistics related to our off-site adoption & tabling events critical to raising awareness & saving homeless animals. Additionally, they will also be tasked with administrative needs to help support the exposure that our animals receive on our website.
The ideal candidate will be able to take direction from multiple team members, but also be proactive and work independently; all while being able to prioritize, stay organized, and keep a strong attention to detail. Qualified candidates will also have excellent customer service, communication, and creative thinking skills, and will be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Compose event volunteer recruitment, event detail, and confirmation emails
- Perform event wrap tasks such as hour reports, unpacking, and detail reconciliation
- Prepare details and packing for events to share with volunteers
- Research event opportunities that fit PAWS’ mission and target audience
- Attend events as a representative of PAWS Chicago
- Administrative tasks to support events and remote volunteer teams
- Passion for animals and belief in our mission to create a No Kill Chicago
- An interest in and understanding of event planning
- Excellent written and verbal communications, with the ability to represent the mission, goals, policies, and core values of PAWS Chicago in a sincere and energetic manner
- Ability to adapt, work collaboratively with a team, and solve problems proactively
- Organizational skills
- Basic computer skills, including e-mail and Microsoft Office
- A genuine interest in, and desire to learn more about animal welfare and the No Kill movement
- The ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Drivers license is preferred to have the ability to drive PAWS vehicles onsite to events
- PAWS Chicago requires that interns complete 12-20 hours per week over the course of a typical (3-6 month) semester for a minimum of 100 hours on the job.
