Position Title: Capacity Building Project Coordinator
Department: Violence Intervention & Prevention Services
Reports to: Capacity Building Project Director
Position Objective and Summary:
The Capacity Building Project Coordinator will provide direct support to the GASC Capacity Building Network for Community Safety, assisting in the implementation of technical assistance, training, and resource development for community-based organizations (CBOs). The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Capacity Building Project Manager to ensure smooth program operations, coordinate service delivery, and track program milestones. This role will be instrumental in supporting CBOs in their organizational development and enhancing their ability to deliver effective violence prevention programs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Assist in the execution of capacity-building initiatives, ensuring CBOs receive timely and relevant support.
- Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and technical assistance activities.
- Serve as a liaison between community partners, technical assistance providers, and program staff.
- Maintain accurate program documentation, including training participation logs and organizational assessments.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of capacity-building efforts.
- Provide direct support to CBOs, connecting them with appropriate resources and funding opportunities.
- Ensure all grant and contract deliverables are met in collaboration with program leadership.
- Assist in the development of toolkits, guidance materials, and best practice documents for community partners.
- Work with internal teams to gather and analyze data for program evaluation and reporting.
- Ensure program implementation adheres to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) funding guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Manage project budgets, financial planning, and compliance to ensure responsible use of grant funds.
- Oversee contract negotiations and partnership agreements with external service providers, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Develop performance metrics and reporting frameworks to assess program impact and effectiveness.
- Oversee the design and execution of workshops, training sessions, and resource-sharing initiatives to strengthen CBOs' operational and programmatic effectiveness.
- Develop a knowledge management system for best practices, toolkits, and learning materials.
- Provide direct guidance to CBOs on program development, evaluation, and sustainability strategies.
- Ensure ongoing needs assessments are conducted to tailor capacity-building efforts effectively.
- Assist in the development and facilitation of training sessions for CBO staff.
- Support peer-learning networks and collaborative cohorts within the network.
- Provide technical assistance to CBOs on program planning, data collection, and sustainability strategies.
- Research and share emerging best practices in community violence intervention (CVI).
- Directly supervise Capacity Building Project Managers, Coordinators, and Support Staff to ensure program goals are met.
- Establish and maintain a high-performance work culture, fostering collaboration and professional development.
- Set performance objectives, monitor progress, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, government agencies, funders, and advocacy groups.
- Represent UCAN North Lawndale in meetings, conferences, and advisory boards to promote the initiative's objectives.
- Advocate for policies and funding mechanisms that support community-based violence intervention and prevention strategies.
- Assist with the execution of the development department's strategy to ensure program compliance and each of the Key Program Indicators are met.
- Responsible for assisting with the development and fiscal monitoring of approve budgets and operations to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the recruitment and sourcing for qualified candidates for employment opportunities projects.
- Report detailed status updates on leadership and executive team.
- Work with leadership to set strategic goals and objectives for VIPS programs. Provide processes for monitoring performance and collaborating with programming teams to determine ways to improve.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
